
Maria Helena Lima, M.D., is a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in aesthetic and reconstructive procedures of the breast, face, and body. She serves as an associate professor in the UAB Division of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Lima’s expertise includes breast reconstruction, augmentation, lift, and reduction procedures; body contouring after weight loss; and facial rejuvenation, including facelifts, blepharoplasty, and rhinoplasty. She also performs nonsurgical services such as injectables, laser treatments, and fat grafting.
She earned her medical degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Dr. Lima completed residency training in general surgery and plastic surgery in Brazil, followed by fellowship training in body contouring, craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery, and reconstructive microsurgery in the United States. She is certified by the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery and the Brazilian Society of Craniomaxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Lima’s research interests include craniofacial, pediatric, and aesthetic plastic surgery. She is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
