
R. Jobe Fix, M.D., FACS, is a board-certified plastic surgeon and professor in the UAB Division of Plastic Surgery, and he specializes in breast reconstruction and hand surgery. He has particular expertise in microsurgical breast reconstruction using a patient’s own tissue, which can result in a more natural look and feel, as well as improved durability.
Dr. Fix earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. He completed residencies at the University of California Valley Medical Center and UAB.
He is certified in plastic surgery, general surgery, and surgery of the hand by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. A longtime educator, Dr. Fix supervises residents and fellows at the UAB Heersink School of Medicine. He has been recognized for his clinical work on lists of America’s Top Doctors and The Best Doctors in America, along with other national honors.
As part of a team from UAB and the University of Kentucky, Dr. Fix has participated in more than 17 medical trips to Ecuador to provide care for children born with congenital disorders (birth defects).
