FAQs

See answers to frequently asked questions about plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures:

What is plastic surgery?

Derived from the Greek word for “giving form,” plastic surgery is the practice of giving shape and restoring functionality to the human body. If you’re seeking an aesthetic improvement or want to address a concern, Mountain Brook Plastic Surgery can help you maximize your appearance. With our state-of-the-art equipment and board-certified surgeons, you can be sure that you’re taking the right step in your plastic surgery journey.

What will I look like after plastic surgery or non-surgical treatment?

We have fellowship-trained plastic surgeons who will curate your treatment to fit your specific needs and lifestyle. Your care is our top priority and achieving the look and function you desire is a goal we will work towards together. Initially, you may experience some swelling or discomfort in the healing process. Our expert nurse and patient care coordination teams will walk you through each step of your recovery and schedule follow-ups to help you have a close touchstone to care after your procedure or surgery.

How do I know if I've chosen the right plastic surgeon and team?

When you come to Mountain Brook Plastic Surgery, you are part of our family. Our attending plastic surgeons have spent years in rigorous fellowship training programs and hold prestigious international surgical accreditations, so you can feel confident that you’re in the right place for your care. Whether your services are provided in our office or in our nearby outpatient facility, you will enjoy state-of-the-art convenience.

What factors can impact my procedure outcomes?

General health plays a pivotal role in your recovery and outcomes. Skin health begins with hydration, rest, and limited sun exposure. Skin that has significant skin damage may experience additional barriers in the healing process if not cared for properly. Patients who are non-smoking also report better outcomes and results after their procedures. Mountain Brook Plastic Surgery only uses the most reviewed techniques to ensure you obtain the results you want in the safest manner possible.

Will I need to pay for my procedure, or will it be covered by insurance?

If you’re consulting a plastic surgeon for a reconstructive surgery, these procedures can typically be billed through an insurance; however, if you’re obtaining a consultation for a cosmetic procedure, it will not be covered by you insurance and payment will be required at the time of service.  Our team has experience addressing a variety of insurance types, situations, and patient backgrounds. Call us today, and we can guide you through the next steps in helping you achieve your goals.
