Arm Lift

Arm lift

An arm lift, or brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure that:

  • Reduces excess skin that might tend to sag
  • Tightens and smooths the underlying supportive tissue that defines the shape of the upper arm
  • Removes some pockets of fat in the upper arm region

Changes in weight, growing older, and genetics (traits passed down from parents) can cause the upper arms to develop a sagging appearance. Unfortunately, exercise alone cannot reverse this appearance.

Body Lift

Body lift

A body lift alters the body’s shape and improves the tone of underlying tissue that supports fat and skin. Excess skin and fat are removed as part of this procedure, which may also improve irregular skin texture.

A body lift may be performed on the following areas:

  • Abdomen, sometimes extending around the sides and into the lower back
  • Buttocks, when the patient believes them to be low, flat, or unevenly shaped
  • Groin, where tissue may sag into the inner thigh
  • Thighs, which may include the inner, outer, and back of thighs, or around the entire thigh

Aging, sun damage, pregnancy, major weight changes, and genetics may contribute to sagging skin and tissue in these areas.

Liposuction

SmartLipo MPX laser-assisted liposuction

SmartLipo MPX works by heating the skin from underneath and melting away the fat. It can be performed on almost all areas of the body. When used along with body contouring, it may achieve tighter skin than with traditional liposuction. This procedure requires only a few small incisions (cuts), allowing the laser to reach fat cells under the skin.

As it liquefies fat cells, the laser also seals the wound area with heat (cauterization). This usually results in less bleeding and bruising compared to traditional liposuction. Most patients need little or no recovery time.

What liposuction cannot do

Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity or a substitute for proper diet and exercise. Also, it is not an effective treatment for loose skin or cellulite, the dimpled skin that often appears on the thighs, hips, and buttocks.

Traditional liposuction

Liposuction, sometimes shortened to “lipo”, helps slim and reshape specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits. Liposuction may be used on the following areas:

  • Abdomen
  • Arms (upper)
  • Back
  • Breasts
  • Buttocks
  • Calves
  • Cheeks and chin
  • Chest
  • Hips
  • Knees (inner)
  • Neck
  • Thighs (inner and outer)
  • Waist

Liposuction may be performed under local or general anesthesia. The procedure generally takes a couple of hours, and patients return home the same day.

Thigh Lift

Thigh lift

Thigh lift surgery reshapes the thighs by reducing excess skin and even fat in some cases. The procedure also results in smoother skin.

What a thigh lift cannot do

Thigh lifts are not intended strictly for the removal of excess fat. Liposuction alone can remove excess fat deposits where skin can easily stretch and naturally conform to new body contours. In cases where the skin cannot stretch naturally, a combination of liposuction and thigh lift techniques may be recommended.

Tummy Tuck

Tummy tuck

Tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, removes excess fat and skin and even restores weakened or separated muscles in most cases. This results in a smoother and firmer tummy.

Diet and exercise may not be enough to achieve the desired appearance for the stomach area. The most common causes of a protruding or sagging stomach include:

  • Aging
  • Genetics
  • Pregnancy
  • Prior surgery
  • Major weight changes

What a tummy tuck cannot do

A tummy tuck is not a substitute for weight loss or an appropriate exercise program. The results of a tummy tuck are technically permanent, but the benefits can be greatly reduced by major weight fluctuations. For this reason, a tummy tuck should be postponed if major weight loss or a pregnancy is expected in the future.

Also, a tummy tuck is not designed to correct stretch marks, but they may improve or even disappear if located in the areas of excess skin that will be removed.
