Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction is mostly performed on women who have had one or both breasts removed due to cancer or a high risk for cancer. Also, it is sometimes used for women who have suffered trauma to the breast or have a deformity. Our physicians offer several types of reconstructive options, including flap procedures (using skin and tissue from another area of the body to recreate the breast), tissue expanders, and implants.

Breast Augmentation

Breast asymmetry surgery

Breast asymmetry is when one breast is larger than the other, or when the shape or position of the breasts doesn’t match. A more balanced appearance can be achieved by using an implant to enlarge the smaller breast or by reducing and lifting the larger breast.

Breast augmentation with implants

This surgical procedure involves the placement of saline- or silicone-filled implants to increase the size of breasts. Both types of implants are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for safety, and they come in a variety of sizes. They are placed either above or beneath the chest muscles through surgical incisions (cuts) made under the breast, under the arm, or around the nipple.

Breast augmentation by fat transfer

With this surgical procedure, a technique called liposuction is used to remove fat from other parts of the body and inject it into the breasts. This option is often chosen by women who are looking for a relatively small increase in breast size and want the most natural looking results.

Breast lift

A breast lift surgery results in the breasts being in a higher position on the chest. It is popular among some women who are unhappy with perceived sagging (a condition known as ptosis) due to the effects of giving birth, aging, or major weight loss.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction

Large breasts can create physical and psychological challenges for some women, including back and neck pain, fewer clothing choices, and limitations on physical activities. With breast reduction procedures, tissue is removed to achieve the desired breast size.

Male breast reduction

Some men have a condition called gynecomastia, which leads to the overdevelopment of breast tissue and enlarged breasts. In such cases, the size of the breasts can be reduced through liposuction and other methods of removing excess tissue.
